A little CFC Youth Report

Chelsea Youngsters

This piece will aim to focus on the great youngster we are lucky to have at Chelsea. I’ll only be writing about the players who are currently aged 23 or under, otherwise we could be here all day.

We are blessed at the amount of amazing youngsters we have under contract at Chelsea. Many already play for the first team and some out on loan still learning their trade. One day, they should all be part of a great Chelsea squad with even more new faces.

This is the full list of our under-23 players who are out on loan (Picture on the left). This list includes the talented Belgian trio of Lukaku, De Bruyne and Courtois. As well as young English talents like Josh McEachran and Nathaniel Chalobah who are both at Championship clubs for the 2012-13 season.

All these players should one day feature for our first as they have immense talents, even at their young age. Some players have actually represented their nations like Jeffrey Bruma, who has played for Holland 4 times already. Our Belgian trio mentioned earlier are regular names on the Belgium team. Others, play for their countries younger teams like Chalobah, who captained England’s under-17’s and is now part of their under-19s. Kalas, Van Aanholt, McEachran, Conor Clifford, Davila, Thorgan Hazard, Lalkovic, Delaj and Gael Kakuta all their play for the under-21s of their respective countries.

When all these players reach their potential, we will have posses a hell of lot of talented players. I wish all these players play for us in the future because it’d be beneficial to have home grown players. With future UEFA plans, we can’t continue to spend big on players like we did and still do now. We have to rely more youth players.

All these players on the left are under-23 and already in the first team for Chelsea. A couple of years ago, we barely had any young players in our squad and now majority of starters are under-25, that is great for the future. Hazard and Oscar are two of the first players to be picked in our starting eleven. That shows how much we value our younger players nowadays. In addition we have the likes of Romeu, Bertrand and Sturridge who seem to improve every game and are on the fringe of being starters. New boys, Azpilicueta, Marin and Moses have shown a lot of promise in their short time at Chelsea and I believe they will stars in the coming years.

These young players really excite me and I hope they get more game time so they can improve even more so. We have a great amount of young players in our system and I hope we sign younger and improving players like Hazard and Oscar and not old players in decline like we did in the past.

Anything else I should write about? Please let me know. Thanks for reading this, hope you enjoyed it.
