Benitez says Chelsea squad short but NONE of the 23 loan players will be recalled

NONE of 23 loan players will be recalled

Thin Squad: NONE of 23 loan players will be recalled!

Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez says his squad is short – but won’t recall anyone from the two full teams they have out on-loan.

The Blues have 23 PLAYERS currently plying their trade at other clubs, including senior international stars such as Michael Essien, Romelu Lukaku, Thibaut Courtois and Kevin De Bruyne.

But Benitez said: “It is difficult for us because we play a game every three days. I don’t know if we will get anyone in the transfer window. We’ve had conversations and now it depends on the club.

“We cannot bring back some of the players who are out on loan because we have an agreement that they will carry on for the rest of the season.

“The squad would be fine if we had everyone available. Hopefully the injured players will come back and the African Nations Cup will give us our players back sooner rather than later.

“Then we’ll have to manage the squad to deal with this congestion.”

Benitez also recently confirmed that there will be no more new signings in this transfer market which leaves us with less options and a thin squad. I expected atleast another signing especially after loaning our Lucas Piazon to Malaga. But it seems as if there will be none. According to me, Piazon should never have been loaned. What are experiences and quality players like Essien doing at Real Madrid on loan when Chelsea are stuck with 2 central midfielders now? Makes no sense.

In fairness to Rafa, these decisions are made by our very own board. These are the silly decisions that our board has been making recently along with their stiffness against offering Frank Lampard a new contract. On the other hand, I won’t be surprised if Chelsea go out there and make a signing on the deadline day looking at the unpredictably of our board.

What do you guys think? Do the Chelsea board know what they are doing? Do you think Chelsea would splash cash on deadline day?
