Chelsea Sack Roberto Di Matteo

21 November 2012.

Chelsea Football Club has parted company this morning with Manager Roberto Di Matteo” was the statement on the official website, this morning on the back of the 3-0 defeat in Turin yesterday.

The basis for his sacking apparently was the fact that “The team’s recent performances and results have not been good enough” and hence the owner and the Board had come to the decision that Di Matteo was to be handed the sack.

They also felt that a change was necessary to lead the club in new directions in an especially crucial part of the season.

Di Matteo is of course, a Chelsea legend – both as a player and a manager. The Italian won us our maiden Champions League title and our 7th FA Cup trophy, in quite admirable fashion. Roberto was in charge of the Blues for 262 days before being fired this morning.

He is perhaps the only manager in a series of many to have held a big place in the fans’ hearts – chants of ‘Only One Di Matteo’ could be heard resounding in every corner of the Bridge at every match this seeason.

Never have we had a manager so passionate about the club. Arrivederci, Roberto. Thank you for everything and we, at ChelseaFC360, wish you all the best for your future ventures.

Next man: Pep
