Donsah, 19, is one of the exciting young talents in Europe and Serie A champions Juventus are also eyeing him, reports claim. Nevertheless, Chelsea are seemingly looking like favourite to land the former Veronaplayer, with Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini claiming there has been contacts from the Blues over a deal for Donsah.
“We had a chat a few weeks ago with Chelsea,” said Giulini. “But I am stunned by all these rumours around him. The lad needs to grow up with us.
“We have many other players on low wages and their contracts will be renewed at the right time, including Donsah’s.”
Donsah’s is apparently on low wages at the Stadio Sant’ Elia and with his price tag set at £4.2m, Chelsea will have no problem signing him.
The 19-year old Ghanaian was one of the shining stars for Cagliari in a rather disappointing campaign which saw them relegated to the Serie B last term. Furthermore, Donsah scored two goals for his team and registered one assist in 21 league appearances last season.
Chelsea fell to a 1-0 defeat in their last pre-season match at home to Fiorentina last night, with Mourinho saying the loss means nothing as it is another good friendly game. However, the Portuguese tactician admitted concerns over striker Diego Costa’s recurrent hamstring issues.
