Does Villa want to join Chelsea and team up with Fernando?
News reports from today reveal that Chelsea are preparing to bring Spanish talisman , David Villa to London on a loan deal. After Rafael Benitez successfully rejuvenated Fernando Torres, he requires another striker of the same nationality to provide cover, as Chelsea’s firepower upfront reaches an all-time low.
Arsenal are also trying their best to lure Villa into London with the help of Cesc Fabregas. Only one problem for the Gunners though, Villa will remain cup tied in the Champions League whereas he’s free to play with Chelsea in the Europa League. Daniel Sturridge’s move to the Merseyside is almost certain, and Chelsea will be depleted if they don’t bring in another striker.
David Villa can also solve another problem for Chelsea. Victor Moses is set to miss quite a part of Chelsea’s season along with Mikel, as he’s set to travel with Nigeria for the African Cup of Nations. Villa is more than capable of operating on the wings which make him very versatile. he is also a good rotating option, and it fits in perfectly with Benitez’s philosophy. Moreover, the chemistry between Torres and Villa is high, thanks to both of them being part of the Spanish National Team.
All in all, bringing a 31 year old prolific scorer on loan is a really good deal, but on a permanent basis, it just goes against the club’s policy.
