Chelsea could announce the signing of Abdul Baba Rahman this week. The young Ghanaian left back was one of Augsburg’s best players in the Bundesliga last season, his wonderful performance for the German side has not gone unnoticed as many clubs have been credited with interest in the player.
However, it seems Chelsea have moved quickly ahead of the other clubs interested in him and are only a tiny detail away from completing the deal. Yesterday and the day before, it was reported the high rated left back will fly into London On Friday to have his medical with the blues, however, there is a new twist to the transfer drama.
Augsburg, reportedly want Chelsea to let them sign young German attacker Marko Marin on a full season loan as part of the deal. Marin who joined Chelsea from another German club Weder Bremen has not had the opportunity of first team football with the blues and has had several loan spells away from the club.
From all indication, Marko Marin is not going to fulfill his potential, definitely not with Chelsea, and it may make a lot of sense if Chelsea send him on loan in order to have Abdul Baba Rahman. Chelsea simply can’t afford not to buy another left back with the window remaining just two weeks to close. With Luis Filipe sold back to Atletico Madrid, it will be suicidal if the club do not bring in a replacement for the departed Brazilian. Baba has also been a major target for the Gunners.
