Speculations are rife that Uruguayan international Edison Cavani might be joining Chelsea as an intense pursuit for Costa replacement continues.
The rumoured riff between Mourinho and Costa has taken a different twist after Costa was seen throwing his warm-up bib at the Portuguese manager, in weekend clash against London rival Tottenham.
The Spaniard was left out of the Match due to tactical reason. Mourinho used Belgium international Eden Hazard in the false 9 role in other to hold possession against the in-form Spurs.
Costa poor performance for the Blues this season has led the Blues in search for a more reliable, calm and clinical forward to compete with the Spaniard, for a first place spot in the starting line-up.
PSG star Edison Cavani would be a perfect replacement for Costa, as the South American forward is considering leaving the French capital for a team that would guarantee him first place spot.
Cavani has been forced to play from the wing many times with Coach Laurent Blanc preferring Zlanta Ibahimovic in the No 9 role.
This decision by Blanc has not gone down well with Cavani and report now has it that the powerful striker could force a move out of PSG in the winter transfer window for another club.
Should Abramovich sanctions a move for Cavani in January, summer signing Radamel Falcao could exit Chelsea after failing to impress since his arrival in the summer.
Cavani is currently rated at £42.2million by the French giants PSG.
