Fredy Guarin has been a subject of Chelsea interest for the last one month now but Inter now want to keep hold of the midfielder but also have confirmed the interest from Chelsea. With the January window open the club has finally decided to keep hold of the Colombian who already had stated his desire to stay in Italy.
Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio told Sky Sport Italia: “Guarin is an Inter player and we are happy to keep him”
“Denying the contacts with Chelsea would be denying the evidence. It is a source of pride to talk with them about one of our players, but everything stopped there.”
“We are happy Guarin could stay with us for a long time. We don’t have the intention to sell him. He’s an important player.”
Chelsea are now in the hunt for the former Blue Nemanja Matic who is reportedly interested in returning to Chelsea.
According to Portuguese paper O Jogo, Benfica are willing to listen to offers for Matic with Chelsea identified as his main suitors and Mirror have reported that Benfica will wait until after their top-of-the-table clash with FC Porto [on Jan. 12] before they open negotiations for Matic.
Matic will be a very important signing for Chelsea if it does go through. Intriguing one month ahead it seems.
