International Break For Chelsea

International Break For Chelsea
10 Chelsea players have gone away to play for their country this International break. Frank Lampard is back to Chelsea early as he is still struggling with a knee injury suffered against Norwich. Also Ryan Bertrand also returned due to unconfirmed reasons.

Our Brazilian trio of David Luiz, Ramires and Oscar are all in the squad to play two friendlies against Iraq and Japan (Thursday and Tuesday). Gary Cahill and Ashley Cole are part of the England squad to play World Cup Qualifiers against San Marino and Poland. If Ashley Cole plays in both the games, he will complete his 100th cap for his nation and will only be the 6th Englishmen to do so and also the first Chelsea player to play 100 times for England. Great achievement by a great player.

Branislav Ivanovic will captain Serbia against the emerging force that is Belgium. He well come up against Chelsea teammates Eden Hazard, De Bruyne and Courtois when the two nations face on Friday. Romelu Lukaku won’t be playing due to a heel injury and has stayed with West Brom. Serbia’s next game will be against Macedonia and Belgium match Scotland. Both matches are on Tuesday.

The two Nigerians, John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses have to play Liberia in the second leg of their African Cup of Nations qualifying match. The first leg ended 2-2 and Nigeria are in a stronger position due to the away goals rule.  A surprise inclusion for the Republic of Ireland was our very own Conor Clifford, who is out on loan to Portsmouth. He has been picked for the senior team for the first time, although Clifford has played for the under-21s on 12 occasions.

Thorgan Hazard, Lamisha Musonda (Both Belgium), Josh McEachran (England) and Oriol Romeu (Spain) have been picked for their nations under-21 teams. All of the following names have been selected for their countries under-19 squads; Nathan Ake (Netherlands), Alex Davey, Islam Feruz (Both Scotland), Tike Musonda (Belgium) and Chike Kandi (Wales).

Good luck to all our boys on International duty and I hope they come back fit and ready to play for the blues.
