Chelsea’ hope of signing atletico Madrid attacking midfielder Atoine Griezman has hit snag, after Atletico president Enrique Cerezo ruled out the for Griezmann in the winter transfer.
Chelsea’s woeful start to the season is still a surprise to football loving fans across the globe. The EPL defending champions are currently sitting on the 16th position on the EPL log, with just a point above relegation zone.
Report had it that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is keen to make some marquee signing in January, with Atletico Madrid midfielder Griezmann a prime target.
However, speaking to Cadena Cope as par the Express, Atletico Madrid president ruled out the move for Griezmann when he said:
“Players play where they want to play and right now, Griezman’s thoughts are not on a sheik or blue princess [Chelsea] coming to sign him,” said Cerezo
“His thoughts are at Atletico Madrid, he want to be at Atletico Madrid. He proved this by signing a renewal recently.”
The £58million rated midfielder moved to Atletico Madrid in 2014 summer from Real Sociedad. He has netted a total of 37 goals for La Liga side since his arrival to Vicente Calderón Stadium.
