Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has once again been linked to Chelsea after enduring a difficult period at Old Trafford this season.
According to Daily Star, Chelsea are odds-on favourites to sign the Red Devil skipper should he decide to end his spell with the Manchester United.
The former Everton man was a transfer target for Chelsea in 2013 when Mourinho identified the England international as the attacker he would like to work. The deal almost materialise as there was a fall out in relationship between Rooney and then coach of Manchester Utd -Alex Ferguson.
However the arrival of David Moyes helped Rooney’s decision as he was assured of his place in the team and later signed a contract extension.
Goals have been hard to come by for the Manchester Utd captain with pundits criticising Van Gaal’s tactics as the problem to Rooney’s performances this season.
Chelsea seeks to arrest their poor form and the experience of the striker could be an added advantage to the team. Out of form Diego Costa has been involved in on field controversies this season as he has just 2 goals in the league this season.
Though in his 30s, Wayne Rooney still creates fears in the opposition defence as he still possesses top qualities to rock the back of the net.
His work rate and passing skills could help Mourinho demystify the Blues scoring problem.
