It is just a matter of time before John Stones becomes a Chelsea player according to a report by Daily Mail. Jose Mourinho has instructed Chelsea’s deal makers to ensure a deal is hashed out for the defender in next few days.
This is coming two days after news broke that Everton had rejected a 30 million bid from Chelsea for Stones. According to the report, Jose Mourinho knows his chances of getting in another centre back is limited and is willing to go all out to get Stones.
Chelsea feel encouraged by the fact that Everton has already been linked to couple of players who could be Stones’ replacement at the club. Reports from Daily Express claim the Merseyside club have agreed a deal of £5.5m fee with south American side River Plate for the transfer of defender Ramiro Funes Mori as Stones replacement.
However, Chelsea could well be beaten to the signing of the defender as Manchester United are also said to be interested in him. The Red Devils have lost out on the opportunity to sign Sergio Ramos after the world cup winner put pen to paper on a new deal with Real Madrid and their other target Nicolas Otamendi has reportedly agreed to sign for their arc rivals City hence they reported move for Stones.
Reports however claim Stones prefers a move to Chelsea as a long term replacement for John Terry which may just be the determinant in the race for the defender. According to reports, Chelsea may complete the signing of the defender before the weekend clash.
